The objective of ECO-CELL is to raise funds for wildlife conservation, deter toxic waste from US landfills, build more sophisticated consumers, and push for the creation of more sustainable electronics.

Carbon Offsets

Carbon emissions are everywhere in your daily life. From your morning commute to work down to your dietary choices, carbon emissions are almost unavoidable. So, what can we do about them? There are many options to reduce or offset your household, business, and/or personal carbon emissions.

  • Reduce Your Own Carbon Emissions: There are many ways to reduce your carbon footprint in your everyday activities.
    • Turn off electronics or appliances when not in use
    • Eat local, in season produce as well as locally sourced meats
    • Shop Smart - avoid fast fashion, bring your own reusable bag, and visit your local thrift stores
    • Take the stairs rather than an elevator or escalator
    • Change your household lightbulbs to LED
    • Transportation - use public transportation and take care of your car to increase its longevity
    • For more information, visit the Columbia Climate School's website
  • Support Offset and Removal Projects: The world needs vast ecosystems, like rainforests and grasslands to be able to offset humanity's carbon emissions. Supporting nature-based carbon offset projects and carbon removal projects moves us one step closer to a net zero carbon emissions planet.
    • Donate to offset your carbon emissions from road trips, flights, and daily household emissions. First, calculate your carbon footprint using a Carbon Footprint Calculator. Then, donate your calculated amount to a carbon offset project of your choosing. Sunset Zoo supports nature-based offset projects through The Rainforest Trust.
