Crested Screamer

Scientific Name: Chauna torquata

Sunset Zoo's resident crested screamers are Nacho (male) and Pearl (female). The crested screamers can be found near or in water ponds along The Americas Trail.

  • Diet: Vegetation such as grasses, stems, seeds, berries, and leaves; occasionally insects and small mammals
  • Habitat: Tropical and subtropical swamps, estuaries and watersides
  • Range in the Wild: Wet lowlands of southeast Peru to northern Argentina and southern Brazil
