Kansas Community Tax Credits

In 2024, the Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation received $166,600 in Kansas Community Service Tax Credits in support of the Outdoor Classroom Renovation Project.

Through the use of these Tax Credits, the Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation will be able to fund a series of enhancements for the Outdoor Classroom including an all-weather shade structure, boardwalk, and educational signage.

How Tax Credits Work

If you make a $10,000 gift using these unique tax credits, the State of Kansas will issue you half of the gift that you made this year back in state tax credits. $5,000 or 50% will be returned to you in either a tax credit towards your state liability or a refund. You may also be eligible to take a charitable federal deduction on the remaining 50% or $5,000. Depending on your tax bracket, the $10,000 gift may cost you less than $3,400

A minimum contribution of $250 is needed in order to secure these funds. Credits will be available July 1, 2024, through December 31, 2025. Read the full press release (PDF).
