Manhattan, Kan. – The Flint Hills Discovery Center (FHDC) is excited to announce the launch of its Flint Hills Learning Center. This free online resource is designed to inspire deeper learning about the Flint Hills.
The Flint Hills Learning Center evolved from the Flint Hills Map & Education Program, a multi-year endeavor that engaged a team of educators and regional experts to develop - and support - educational map exhibits of the Flint Hills. Today, the Flint Hills Learning Center is managed by the FHDC and fulfills its educational mission to inspire a lifelong commitment to learning.
In the Flint Hills Learning Center, educators can discover helpful tools that complement classroom instruction around the science, history and culture of the Flint Hills. This includes free online lesson plans, project-based learning activities, place-based learning activities, field trip opportunities and more.
“The Flint Hills Learning Center is an amazing resource for both educators and the wider community,” said Stephen Bridenstine, Curator of Education. “These free resources are critical to helping the FHDC further its mission to inspire people to celebrate, explore and care for the Flint Hills.”
