Meet the Makers March 14 through 17 from 10 am to 5 pm wood background with art supplies

March 14-17, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

This year marks the 8th annual Meet the Makers event! Each day, a local creator, crafter, or maker will present live demonstrations of their work from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in the first-floor atrium of the Flint Hills Discovery Center. Interact with the artists, ask questions, and see their work come to life!

This event is free and open to the public. Those wishing to explore the exhibits beyond the atrium at the Flint Hills Discovery Center must pay the general admission fee.

Tuesday, March 14ChickaBee PotteryJill Nixon is the face (and hands) behind ChickaBee Pottery. A self-taught artist, Nixon will demonstrate her work in wheel thrown and hand built functional and decorative pottery.
Wednesday, March 15Laura MeadTrained in meditation, energy work, and multimedia arts, Laura Mead will make handspun wool yarn with a demonstration and hands-on experience spinning for guests.
Thursday, March 16LSKC CreativeLori Stanziola, the artist of the See Kansas Art Project Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve print, will share her linoleum block carving and printing work with a piece in process.

Flint Hills Woodturners
Explore the sights and sounds of woodturning with the Flint Hills Woodturners. This Manhattan area club will demonstrate the art of wood turning, transforming pieces of wood into beautiful bowls and tops.
