We are excited to announce our new Outdoor Classroom Program Scholarships. Visit the Flint Hills Discovery Center on a field trip and have your students engage in a new 60-minute formal education program at our Outdoor Classroom.
Who is eligible?
This funding opportunity is open to all K-5 public, private, or tribal school and equivalent homeschool groups located in Kansas.
What programs are eligible?
Pick either of the 2 NEW Outdoor Classroom programs based on your grade level
Geometry of Geology (Grades K-2) - Students use basic measurement and geometry as they explore rocks and fossils at our outdoor classroom. This dynamic program combines geology instruction with applied math skills to explore a unique space at the Discovery Center.
Rockin’ ‘Rithmetic (Grades 3-5) - Think like a geologist to analyze rocks and fossils then apply math and measurement to size up the outdoor classroom. This dynamic program combines geology instruction with applied math skills to explore a unique space at the Discovery Center.
What does the scholarship cover?
Each scholarship covers the regular $3 student admission rate for the Discovery Center and the $3 student program fee as well as accompanying teachers. The scholarships do not cover transportation costs.
Field Trips and Programs should be completed in spring 2022 from February 1 through May 20, 2022.
Individual schools may apply for scholarship funds to cover up to 50 students. Funds are distributed on a first come, first served basis. All the fall 2021 funds have been distributed. We are now accepting applications for the spring at this time.
