Low Sensory Saturday

Low Sensory Saturday graphic

Join us on Saturday, October 2 and Saturday, November 6 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. for a special low sensory experience inside the Discovery Center. We'll adjust the lights and sounds to meet your needs before we open to the general public. Perfect for youth and adults with sensory processing disorders.

Pre-registration is not required. Regular admission rates apply.

Planned adjustments:

  • Pausing the light show and muting sound in the central dome
  • Lowering sound levels on the Tides of Time Immersive Theater film
  • Lowering sound levels on interactive elements throughout the exhibits
  • Disabling hand dryers in restrooms
  • Social Narrative available to prepare for your visit.  Click HERE to download a PDF version.

We welcome additional feedback before and during the event. Help us make the Flint Hills Discovery Center a place for everyone!  Contact our Curator of Education at 785-587-2726 or email fhdceducation@cityofmhk.com for questions or inquiries.

Face Masks Now Required for FHDC Visitors and Staff

As an entity of City of Manhattan, all visitors and employees are required to wear a face mask inside the Discovery Center and at all other indoor city facilities. This applies to both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals age two and up.

If you need a mask during your visit, please ask our Guest Services staff and they will be happy to provide one to you!

Please continue to check back for updates regarding the face mask policy. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time.
