About the Event


Come meet native Kansan and author, Adrian Zink! Zink has written two books, "Hidden History of Kansas" & "Wicked Kansas." The history of our great state hasn't always been pleasant. In "Wicked Kansas", Zink explores the salacious side of Kansas history including tales of murders, cons and more. During his interactive presentation, Zink will tell a few stories of Kansas history and then visitors can have their copy of "Wicked Kansas" signed by the author himself! Don't have a copy of the book? The FHDC Gift Store will have copies of the book for sale the day of the event!

Zink was born and raised in Larned, Kansas and holds a Bachelor of Arts in History & Political Science from the University of Kansas, a Master's of Library Science from the University of Maryland and a MA in History from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Zink currently works at the National Archives- Kansas City.

You can pre-order a signed copy of "Wicked Kansas" for pick-up at a later date. Call 785-587-2726 to place your order. Zink will sign the pre-order copies the day of the event and they will be ready for pick-up at the FHDC on Tuesday, October 27. If you are unable to pick-up your order in-person, we can mail the book to you for a shipping cost of $7.75.

COVID-19 Considerations


Due to concerns with the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, Flint Hills Discovery Center staff will be closely following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Riley County Health Department (RCHD), and Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). All guests will be required to maintain social distancing during the event. Guests will be required to wear face coverings or masks during the event. Inclement Weather Policy


We plan to host this event outdoors on the Prairie Garden Terrace. If there is inclement weather the day of the event, it will be moved indoors into the Flint Hills Discovery Center second floor classroom. Due to capacity limits, if the event is moved indoors, the event will be limited to the first 25 guests.
