Build a Bat House

Saturday, October 31 - two sessions available
9:00-11:00 AM or 12:00-2:00 PM
FHDC Members: $20 I Non-Members: $25
For Youth Age 6-12 & One Adult

It’s Halloween so grab a hammer and apron and build your very own take home Bat House. We’ll provide all the tools, supplies, and materials you need as well as professional instruction and a visit from a real live Big Brown Bat courtesy of the Milford Nature Center! All you need to bring is a sense of adventure.

A Bat House mimics the types of crevices found under the bark of a dead tree and other places where bats like to roost. If placed on the side of a building or pole with plenty of sun, they are sure to attract some bats!

This workshop is for youth age 6-12 and a required adult age 18+ to assist them. Registration fee covers both youth and adult participant. Please register under the youth’s name.

Pre-registration is required by October 30 at 5:00 PM. Please select one of the two sessions. Register online, by calling 785-587-2726, or in-person at the Flint Hills Discovery Center.

COVID-19 Protocols: Workshop sessions are limited to 16 total participants to maintain physical distancing. We ask that all participants complete a health self-screening prior to the workshop and bring and wear face coverings during the program.
