Preschoolers in the Flint Hills

Preschool-age children (ages 3-5) begin discovering the wonder of the Flint Hills where they live, but look beyond the city limits in their exploration. Every session includes a story time, snack and themed craft or activity!

Times, Cost & Registration

Class runs 10:30-11:30 a.m. on the dates listed below.

Please print and complete the Preschool Permission Form and return it to the FHDC Education Department on or before your first program date.

Pre-registration is required either online, by phone at 785-587-2726 or in person at the Flint Hills Discovery Center.

Registration for Winter/Spring programs opens January 14.

January 15      Messy Scientists        Sometimes you have to make a mess to try science! Let's grab out lab coats and goggles, and try some new experiments.

February 5             Beautiful Bugs Some bugs are so colorful they look like a painting! Search for bugs around the room, then let's paint a butterfly and move like a beetle.
February 19 Step into the Tale of Peter Rabbit Are you Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail or Peter Rabbit? Make your own ears and cotton tail, then race to pick up your favorite foods from our play garden!
March 5 Sharp Shapes Some shapes have points and some don't! We are going to find shapes and create our own art with the shapes we like best.
March 19 Color Mix-Up What happens when you mix red and blue? Come find out as we explore a day of color mix-up!
November 6             Best Birdies
What do you feed the birds? Make a bird feeder to help our feathery friends this winter.
April 2 Animal Mashups Have you ever hear of a gooster? What about a liger? Join us as we explore mixed up animals through movement and art.
April 16 Happy Campers We're bringing the fun of camping into our classroom! Join us around the "campfire" and create a tent out of popsicle sticks.
May 7 Animals of Myths Myths, legends and folklore have portrayed Kansas mammals as cunning tricksters, do you think they're true?
May 21 Maize Days Corn is cool! Munch on popcorn while we learn all about maize!
