COVID-19 Considerations

Due to concerns with the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, Flint Hills Discovery Center staff will be closely following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Riley County Health Department (RCHD), and Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE).

All Preschool activities will encourage social distancing as much as possible. Shared supplies and equipment will be disinfected during the session. Staff will clean, sanitize, and disinfect the classroom, including all frequently touched surfaces, before and after the program. While it is highly encouraged, parents may choose whether or not their child will wear a face covering. Complimentary face masks are available at the Discovery Center.

Youth will NOT be allowed to participate in Preschool within 14 days after (i) returning from COVID-19 impacted areas subject to a CDC Level 3 Travel Health Notice (ii) exposure to any person returning from areas subject to a CDC Level 3 Travel Health Notice (iii) exposure to any person who has a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19.

We ask that all parents conduct a health self-check for their child prior to arrival. Signs or symptoms which require exclusion include the following COVID-19 symptoms:
  • Oral temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater in the past 24 hours (cannot have taken fever reducer within 4 hours)
  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
