Winter/Spring 2019 Adventure Camps

Pre-Registration Required

All participants must pre-register for each session. Pre-register online, by phone at 785-587-2726 or in person at the Flint Hills Discovery Center. Registration for the January 21 camp is now open. Registration for all other Winter/Spring 2019 camps opens January 14.

Before You Begin Your Adventure

  
  • Complete emergency release and permission forms and return them to the FHDC Education Department on or before your first program of the season. Click here to download forms.
  • All parents should read the Adventure Camp Parent Handbook prior to dropping their child off at camp. Parents failing to follow the rules and regulations outlined in this handbook may result in a child’s removal from camp.

Camp Locations

During the school year, Adventure Camps are offered at both the Flint Hills Discovery Center and Sunset Zoo. The grade of the child participating determines the camp location.

January 21                         Celebrate Our State                    Kansas has a lot to offer, celebrate our great State with games, the state symbols, and more!
February 8                     Playing with Color Join us for a day of creating artistic games and toys that you can take home!
February 14                             We Heart Science! It's Valentine's Day, so let's show some love to our favorite activities in science! We will slime, build and fizz our way through this day of love!
February 15 Stepping into Art Take a closer look at the Framed: Step into Art™ exhibit by recreating famous artwork in live action poses and green screen entertainment.
February 18 Interesting Art Art that you can eat? What about art made from trash? Today we are going to create beautiful art in new and exciting ways!
March 8 Art in Nature Bundle up if it's cold! We're going to spend some time outside getting inspired by nature. Create something beautiful from the world around us.
March 11 Building Railroads Train travel shaped the west. Planning and building our system of railways took many people. Would you be up to a task like that? How hard is it to drive a railroad spike? Find out at Adventure Camp today!
March 12 Native American Art People often use art as a way of communicating histories, life lessons and culture. Let's discover the importance of Native American art!
March 13 Weird Story Wednesday                                               Fact or Fiction, tell us a weird and wacky story, and hear some of the weirdest and unexplained stories in Kansas' history.
March 15 Shipwrecked What do Boston and steamboats have in common with Manhattan, Kansas? Come find out how Manhattan began in this historic adventure!
April 1 April Fools! Dust off your jokes and pranks, we're going to fool around! It's sure to be a day full of creative fun as we try to trick each other. Wear your silliest socks or wacky hair for added fun!
April 19 Garden Artists Planting a garden can bring color into your own little part of the world. Design your own landscape plan. We will start seeds that you can take home to start making your dream garden come to life.
