Preschoolers in the Flint Hills (ages 3-5) Spring 2023

The wonder of the Flint Hills comes to life as children begin discovering the culture, history, and ecology of the region. Each class includes hands-on activities, crafts, story time, and a snack.

Times, Cost & Registration

Sessions are on the first and third Tuesdays of the month from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Enrollment is a maximum of 12 children, minimum of 5.

All parents or guardians must complete a release form for their child to participate. Please bring the release form with you or complete a copy upon arrival.


FHDC members: $8
Non-members: $10

Pre-registration is required online, by phone at 785-587-2726, or in person at the Flint Hills Discovery Center.

January 17 Wonders of Winter     Winter is the coldest season of the year. Come find out some of the wonders of Winter here in the Flint Hills!
February 7 Frozen Fun Can you make ice melt faster? Come find out what ice is made of as we make ice cube art and do a fun experiment!
February 21     Dinosaur Friends Create your own dinosaur and dress up with your friends. We'll learn about dinosaurs along the way!
March 7 Dino Parade Dinosaur feet helped them run, jump, and hunt. Come make tracks with us in your very own dinosaur feet!
March 21 Special Spring It's officially spring! Can you tell? Let's search for signs of spring around the Discovery Center.
April 4 Fossil Facts What do fossils tell you? Let's learn some fossil facts and even touch fossils found right here in Kansas!
April 18 Color Crazy What happens when you mix red and blue? Come find out as we explore a crazy day of colors!
May 2 Maize Days Corn is cool! Munch on popcorn while we learn all about maize!
