Preschoolers in the Flint Hills (ages 3-5) Fall 2023

Preschooler aged boys and girls jumping like frogsThe wonder of the Flint Hills comes to life as children begin discovering the culture, history, and ecology of the region. Each class includes hands-on activities, crafts, story time, and a snack.

Times, Cost & Registration

Sessions are on the first and third Tuesdays of the month from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Enrollment is a maximum of 12 children, minimum of 5.

Drop off and pick up takes place in the classroom of the Flint Hills Discovery Center. Children should come dressed for the weather in the event the program visits a location outside, like the 3rd floor patio or Blue Earth Plaza.

FHDC members: $10
Non-members: $15

All parents or guardians must complete a release form for their child to participate. Please bring the release form with you or complete a copy upon arrival.

Pre-registration is required online, by phone at 785-587-2726, or in person at the Flint Hills Discovery Center.

September 19     Butterfly Wonders Let’s learn about all the wonders of butterflies! From beautiful patterns to huge migrations, come find out what makes butterflies so great!
October 3     Beneath Our Feet Rocks, mud, worms - what’s down there, beneath our feet? Let’s play with clay and touch a wriggly worm!
October 17 Fall Celebration Autumn has arrived! Let's learn about changing colors and other wonders of this season!
November 7 Where Do You Live? Come with us as we learn about different habitats in nature! From a beaver lodge to a fox den, is it similar to where you live?
November 21 Fields to Foods Find out what happens to wheat and corn between the field and your plate! Grind wheat into flour and churn cream into butter for a tasty snack!
