The Flint Hills Discovery Center is owned and operated by the City of Manhattan and features free public access spaces on all three floors of the building. All are invited to enjoy the Center’s lobby and second and third floor interior balconies. These spaces provide spectacular views to the south and west through the 65-foot-tall cylinder glass curtain wall. Table and chairs are scattered throughout for your enjoyment and comfort. All public areas also feature free Wi-Fi access.
Admission & Hours
Visitors are always invited to enjoy these spaces for free. The interior spaces are open during regular
operating hours of the Flint Hills Discovery Center. The outdoor spaces are open 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
Indoor Spaces
The lobby also serves as a visitor information center highlighting all that there is to do throughout the Flint Hills. Be sure to check out the Flint Hills Gateway Kiosk while in this space. The second and third floors have open bistro seating for a casual get-together or a business work station.
Outdoor Spaces
The rooftop terraces of the building are part of the City of Manhattan’s park system. The third floor terrace - accessible from the lobby via the stairs or the elevator as well as open to the park via the ramp and stairs - includes comfortable outdoor seating.
Blue Earth Plaza, a city park, is located directly across from the Flint Hills Discovery Center. The park offers covered and open-air seating, a water feature, an outdoor fireplace and open green space.
