Come fly with Max and Munch on a healthy food adventure!
Meet Max, a 7-year-old
learning about MyPlate’s eating guidelines in school. Tonight the MyPlate
appears in Max’s dream, and it can fly! So, he and his best pal Munch climb
aboard and go off on a healthy food adventure.
Children can get hands-on in the Supermarket
with the Great Grain Grab game and let their voices and feet fly to the sounds
of musical raps of healthy choices. Next, soar through the Urban Garden in a
rainbow of colors, each one representing a different health benefit. Hungry
yet? It’s time to compile your very own plate of food at Drive-through and sit
down Restaurants. See how much you’ve learned at the Hot Plate, a life-size
game that challenges you to get moving to the music and identify different
foods by toe-tapping on footpads.
Max and Munch
encounter a variety of displays; each one presents information about the five
MyPlate sections: fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins, and dairy. First, the
flying saucer brings them to a very cool supermarket. Here Max and Munch run
around to the five areas of MyPlate - each featuring fun activities. Next stop,
a community garden where Max learns that even in an urban setting you can use
large containers to grow vegetables in your
backyard or on your balcony. From there they spy drive-thru and sit down
restaurants; these areas encourage family conversation about making healthy
choices when eating out. And for some exercise Max and Munch try their turn on
the Hot Plate to see what they’ve learned on their journey so far.
This exhibit provides exciting opportunities to
experience hands-on benefits of healthy eating habits! This event is generously sponsored by Via Christi.
